Killed on 22/10/1973 Wrote the song Your eyes, made by Hagit Yasu. Nechemiah was born in 1952 in Haifa, the second son of Ephraim and Esther, a Holocaust survivor. He was named after Esther's brother, who was killed in the War of Independence. His parents were religious liberals, But towards the end of high school he became secular. He was an athlete, played the accordion, and excelled in the sciences. Nechemiah was inducted into the army in 1970, and served as a medic in a battalion from the Golani Brigade. Towards the end of his service, he entered into a relationship with Hava. At the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War, Nehemiah was on leave. He had recently been accepted to Technion University. Before university, he was to go to the US and to serve as in a special capacity with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was not called to reserve duty, however he decided to seek his regiment in the Golan Heights. After two days of searching, he rejoined his teammates. Nechemiah took part in the second battle on Mount Hermon, and while he was insisting to properly treat the wounded man, he was hit by a Syrian sniper and killed instantly. Nechemiah had been a song writer since childhood, however because he was an introverted boy his family did not read his work during his lifetime. Nearly forty years after his death, Nuri, the son of his sister and an outstanding musician, found Nechemiah's songs and composed them. Your Eyes / Hagit Yasu Blue clear water The sand of the sea and the waves The blue sky Reflected in your eyes. The days and the shadows The dark nights The stars that are still falling Envelop your eyes. Your eyes, hit me like waves Your eyes, wait for me on the path Your eyes, have not undergone years Not smoke enveloped Not covered in the cloud But watered lashes. |
